The articles by Stephen Fry and The Economist were very intriguing to read. The situation regarding gay rights in Russia are honestly embarrassing for this century. While I was reading both articles I connected it with a conversation I previously had with my Dad. My Dad mentioned the the reason the homophobic crowd oppresses the LGBT community is because the LGBT community is very forward and in-your-face, encouraging the oppressors to react in a dramatic way. A question that came to mind was 'How are people who are present for the Olympic games or watch them on TV going to react to either the propaganda or lack of pride during the Olympics?' I honestly hope that this topic won't be an issue for future generations as the laws and regulations mentioned in the articles seem childish and old-school.
